Toastmasters Promise and Land Acknowledgment

Each and every one of our members abide by the following oath.

As a member of Toastmasters International and my club, I promise to:

  • Attend club meetings regularly
  • Prepare all of my speech and leadership projects to the best of my ability, basing them on projects in the Competent Communication, Advanced Communication, or Competent Leadership manuals, and Advanced Leadership projects
  • Prepare for and fulfill meeting assignments
  • Provide fellow members with helpful, constructive evaluations
  • Help the club maintain the positive, friendly environment necessary for all members to learn and grow
  • Serve my club as an officer when called upon to do so
  • Treat my fellow club members and our guests with respect and courtesy
  • Bring guests to club meetings so they can see the benefits Toastmasters membership offers
  • Adhere to the guidelines and rules for all Toastmasters education and recognition programs
  • Maintain honest and highly ethical standards during the conduct of all Toastmasters activities

Land acknowledgment of the unceded indigenous lands of Tiohtià:ke/Montréal

We acknowledge that Beyond Words Advanced Toastmasters club is located on the unceded indigenous lands of Tiohtià:ke/Montréal.

The Kanien’kehá:ka Nation is recognized as the custodians of the lands and waters on which we gather today phyiscally and virtually.

Tiohtià:ke is historically known as a gathering place for many First Nations. Today, it is home to a diverse population of First Nations, Inuit, Métis, and other peoples from around the world. We respect the continued connections with the past, present and future in our ongoing relationships with all peoples within and around the Montréal community and across the wider world.
